In Ayurveda, Agni - our digestive capacity - is the key to how we move through life and is reflected in our mental, physical and emotional digestion and wellbeing. There is a lot that needs to be digested everyday - basically everything that we consume through our five senses (=Pañca Jñānendriyāṇi//sanskrit). This means, everything we take in daily with our eyes, everything we touch, everything we hear and smell and of course taste, needs to be digested. 

This is the reason why it is so important to cultivate and maintain a strong and proper functioning Agni - so we can digest life and all that comes with it fully. 

Diet (=Ahar//sanskrit) is one of the most simple and effective ways to build a strong digestive capacity (Agni). Vice versa, diet is also the most common way to weaken Agni and create imbalances.
